Public broadcaster DD news has completed 10 successful years. On 3rd of november 2003 DD Metro was converted to DD NEWS.
The channel is available on all the three platforms terrestrial, cable and DTH and is reaching the entire country with latest news updates round the clock.
The channel is also globally available on the webcast through its website www.ddinews.gov.in.
DD News, the country's only 24 hours terrestrial bi-lingual news channel telecasts over 17 hours of LIVE news bulletins and programmes daily in Hindi and English
DD News provides a daily dose of Business and sports News. Programmes on entertainment, International events, Health , Security Matters are broadcast during the week.
It is also producing number of programmes of flagship schemes , communal harmony and Right to Information . The channel has 29 regional news units which are ensuring widest possible coverage of the daily events.
With its dedicated team of over 70 correspondents and 12 DSNG vans , the channel is covering all the important functions LIVE.

The News wing also produces ten bulletins for Urdu Channel, a bulletin for the hearing impaired and one Sanskrit bulletin every day in keeping with its public service broadcasting mandate.
In its decade of operation, the channel has several firsts to its credit. It also gave extensive coverage to news events that captured the imagination of people. DD NEWS was the first news channel to cover Iraq war in 2003 from ground zero.
DD was the first to report the Flash floods in Leh and the destruction caused by it in 2010.
We were the first channel to show LIVE visuals of Tsunami destruction from Tamil Nadu Coast in Dec 2004. A documentary "Tsunami - Re-told" also bagged an ABU award.

During the critical situation at the LOC, DD NEWS correspondent gave input from ground zero in 2013. The National Broadcaster comprehensively reported on ceasefire violations from Indo-Pak Border in Jammu- perhaps the first channel to have covered even Pakistani Border Outposts from very Close Quarters.
